DEER DAMAGE IN MICHIGAN, THE LAKE STATES, AND BEYOND
Damage from deer browsing is not an isolated or uncommon ocurrence. Much of the forest across eastern North America has experienced moderate to severe impacts. Studies from multiple states and provinces, in many forest types, indicate this widespread ecological phenomenon. The topic is, of course, a highly charged sociological and political hot potato. While science can provide a considerable amount of information to the table, the decisions will be made outside the realm of science.
